Jord joins Business Sweden delegation and FI CIRCULAR 2026 in the Dominican Republic

Jord met with public institutions and private companies in the Dominican Republic to discuss renewable biomass, industrial energy needs and opportunities for collaboration. The meetings formed part of a Swedish business delegation organised by Business Sweden and the 4th International Circular Economy Forum (FI CIRCULAR 2026), held on October 14–15 in Santo Domingo.
Representing Jord, Diego Medina, Head of ESG and CFO of Jord Dominicana, joined a week of discussions and site visits focused on how Jord’s approach to renewable biomass can support the country’s energy transition.
Connecting investment, industry and renewable energy
The delegation’s programme included a working lunch with ProDominicana, the country’s export and investment agency, focused on renewable energy and the role of local and foreign investment in regional development.

Diego also met with the Ministry of Energy and Mines and and EGEHID to discuss the country’s energy transition plans and ambitions to reduce its carbon footprint.

Jord joined the Team Sweden reception with Anna Craenen, Ambassador of Sweden, alongside the other delegation members.

At FI CIRCULAR’s business matchmaking session, Diego met with companies including Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, Aerodom, César Iglesias and Banco Popular. These conversations explored how renewable biomass and carbon solutions could support sustainability goals across different sectors and where there may be opportunities for collaboration.
“People were really interested in Jord’s products and in our approach, and we had great networking with both the public and the private sector. We are returning with many valuable contacts and conversations to follow up,” says Diego Medina.
Sharing perspectives on circular business
Diego also contributed to the panel “Circular and Inclusive Companies: Innovation, Competitiveness and Sustainable Leadership,” alongside representatives from Epiroc, Nokia, Iberostar and Milée Collection.
The discussion examined how circular business models can move from pilot projects to commercial operations, and the role of local collaboration in that process. Jord’s approach—growing energy grasses on degraded land to produce renewable fuels for industry—provided a practical example of connecting land restoration with industrial energy needs.

Following progress in San Pedro de Macorís
The visit included time at Jord’s plantation in San Pedro de Macorís to review crop development and site infrastructure. Diego also visited the nearby port to explore logistics options in connection with Jord’s longer-term plans to export pellets.
Jord has operated in the Dominican Republic since 2020, with a focus on growing energy grasses on degraded land for solid biofuel production and carbon credit generation.
The week’s conversations built on that local presence, offering a better understanding of public sector priorities and potential partners’ needs. Jord will continue these discussions to identify where its biomass and carbon solutions can support shared objectives and lead to practical collaboration.
